Potatoe
The Spirited Puppy Ready to Start Fresh
Meet Potato: The Spirited Puppy Ready to Start Fresh
Potato is a 7-month-old female Bull Terrier, full of energy and potential. Potatoe will need a home that can offer specialised training, attention, and socialisation she deserves.
Potato’s Personality
• With Adults: Potato is friendly and excitable, always happy to meet new people. She jumps up in excitement but quickly settles.
• With Strangers: Potato barks when the doorbell rings but welcomes visitors warmly once they’re inside.
• With Children: Excellent with children, even in challenging situations.
• With Dogs: Struggles with dog reactivity due to limited socialisation. Potato has been bullying the resisdent dog and is reactive in confined spaces, such as the vet’s office. She has not been off-lead with other dogs.
• With Toys: Potato loves her toys and plays well. She has improved significantly with guarding behaviors, though bones are not recommended in her new home.
Training and Challenges
• Reactivity: Potato wails and gets anxious when seeing other dogs. In confined spaces, she may become aggressive.
• Food Behavior: She gets overstimulated around feeding times and can be nippy, so she needs to be kept out of the kitchen during meal prep.
• Socialisation Needs: Due to health issues and restricted walks, Potato has missed critical socialisation opportunities and needs training from the ground up to address her reactivity and anxiety.
Health and Care
• Health Issues: Potato has had her canine teeth pulled due to improper growth and recently had a fragment removed from her foot, leaving her temporarily bandaged. There is a 50/50 chance the foot will fully heal.
• Vet Visits: Potato does well at the vet but must enter through a back entrance to avoid other dogs.
• General Care: Potato dislikes baths but tolerates basic handling, such as ear cleaning and nail trimming.
Potato’s Ideal Home
• Child-Free or Older Children: Suitable for families with older children who understand boundaries.
• Only Dog Household: Potato thrives as the only dog where she doesn’t have to compete for attention.
• Experienced Owners: Needs a confident handler who can commit to ongoing training and behavior modification.
• Calm Environment: Potato requires a structured, low-stress home where she can feel safe and secure.
• Ongoing Training: Must have a home willing to invest time in her training and socialization.
Daily Routine
• Morning: Starts her day with a potty break around 6:30 AM, followed by breakfast at 7:30 AM.
• Daytime: Left in a partially covered crate from 8:30 AM to 1 PM, with a licky mat and treat-stuffed snake for enrichment.
• Evening: Dinner at 5 PM and playtime or cuddles.
• Night: Bedtime at 10 PM after a final potty break.
What Makes Potato Special
Despite her challenges, Potato is a loving and affectionate puppy who thrives on cuddles and interaction. She has so much potential to grow with the right training and environment. Her current owners describe her as a “lovely, friendly, and loving dog” who simply needs a home that can meet her unique needs.
If you’re ready to give Potato the time, attention, and training she deserves, she will undoubtedly reward you with endless love and loyalty!
