Helga
Full of Energy, Ready for a Loving Home!
Meet Helga, a young and spirited Bull Terrier who is full of energy and character. At just 11 months old, Helga is looking for an experienced home where she can grow and thrive. She has a birth defect which means she cannot breed, but otherwise, she’s in good health. Helga has been with her current owner for only a few months, but circumstances have changed.
Personality & Behaviour:
Helga is an excitable and playful girl who loves people, although she sometimes has no boundaries and can be a little snappy when she gets overstimulated. She’s friendly with adults and children, having lived previously with kids aged 5, 3, and a newborn. However, she may get over-excited, especially when trying to play, and can growl or snap when her boundaries are pushed.
Interaction with Other Animals:
Helga is very reactive to small animals, particularly cats, which she tries to chase and snap at. She has shown signs of food aggression when other dogs are present, so it’s essential for her to be the only pet in the home. While she’s generally friendly with dogs on walks, she gets over-excited and tries to play too roughly, which can lead to snapping. Given her history of being attacked by another dog, she’s now wary and needs a home where she’s the only dog to help her feel secure.
Walks & Routine:
Helga enjoys her walks, she’s well-behaved on the lead and doesn’t snap at other dogs when out and about. However, off-lead, she tends to get over-excited and tries to play fight, so she needs an experienced handler who can continue her training and socialisation.
Health & Care:
Helga is microchipped and vaccinated. She’s generally good with the vet but can be fidgety when getting her nails trimmed or during bath time. She’s fine with having her ears checked and being examined, but she needs an owner who is patient and can work with her playful energy.
Likes & Dislikes:
Helga loves her walks and is affectionate when she’s in the mood for cuddles. She’s a cheeky girl who enjoys stealing things and running off with them. On the other hand, she dislikes cats and will chase them, and she’s not a fan of being hugged when she doesn’t want attention.
Ideal Home:
Helga needs a home with older children or a child-free environment. She must be the only pet, as she doesn’t get along with small animals or other dogs in the home. An experienced owner is a must—someone who can provide ongoing training and establish boundaries for her. Helga needs someone who understands Bull Terriers and can give her the structure and consistency she needs to thrive.
Additional Notes:
Despite her spirited nature, Helga has shown that she can be gentle. She was attacked by another dog, resulting in a tear in her chest, but she didn’t retaliate. This shows her potential to be a loving companion with the right guidance and environment.
Rehoming Requirements:
• No other pets (dogs or small animals)
• Experienced owner preferred
• A home with older children or child-free
• Ongoing training and socialisation needed
